Three more chord shapes and another backing track to download
This online guitar lesson from guitarwombat builds on the material covered in the previous lesson (G Em C and D chords). We introduce another three chord shapes for you to get to grips with and again you can download free guitar backing tracks and chord sheets etc.
Remember!
The numbers inside the black circles refer to the finger that you should use to press down on the string (finger 1 being the index finger)
Do not play the strings marked with an X but do sound the strings marked with a O

Below is a chord progression which uses the above chords. As with the earlier progression (in the online guitar lesson dealing with the chords of G, Em C and D) you should learn to form the chords and practice moving between them before working with the backing track. The Am (A minor) chord is played over two bars (two sets of four beats) whilst the Dm (D minor) and E chords each last for a single bar (four beats)

Free Online Guitar Lesson Backing Tracks
When first using the free backing track strum each chord once at the start of each group of two bars. This will allow you plenty of time to move your fingers into position to play the next chord. When you can do this then move on to more complicated strumming patterns.
Click on the buttons below to download a backing track for this progression and a single sheet containing the three shapes and chord sequence.
If you would like giant (A4) versions of each of the chords to print and stick on your wall to remind you of how they are formed click on the buttons below to download them.
